Finding Properties by Lot Width, Depth, or Lot Size

AUTOPROP makes it easy to identify properties that meet specific lot dimension criteria, helping you quickly find potential subdivision opportunities, redevelopment sites, or properties that match your search requirements.

This workflow combines property selection, data loading, and spreadsheet filtering to create a targeted list of properties.

Step 1: Select Properties

Navigate to the area you would like to analyze.

Use one of the property selection tools:

  • Draw Rectangle

  • Draw Polygon

Select the properties within your area of interest by drawing around the desired parcels.

Once selected, the properties will be added to the Properties Table.

Step 2: Load Lot Dimension Data

Open the Properties Table.

  1. Click Load Data.

  2. Expand Paragon Tax Report.

  3. Select one or more of the following:

    • Lot Width

    • Lot Depth

    • Lot Size

  4. Click Update.

The selected lot dimension data will be loaded for all selected properties.

You may also load additional data points if required.

Step 3: Export the Data

Once the data has finished loading:

  1. Click Export CSV.

  2. Save the file to your computer.

  3. Open the exported file in Excel.

Step 4: Enable Filtering in Excel

To prepare the spreadsheet for analysis:

  1. Select the entire worksheet by clicking the square in the top-left corner between Column A and Row 1.

  2. Click Home → Sort & Filter → Filter.

Filter controls will now appear in each column header.

Step 5: Filter by Lot Width, Depth, or Size

Use the filter dropdown on the appropriate column to:

  • Sort values from largest to smallest

  • Filter properties above or below a specific threshold

  • Remove unwanted values

Example

To find properties wider than 33.3 feet:

  1. Open the filter on the Lot Width column.

  2. Sort Largest to Smallest.

  3. Exclude values less than or equal to 33.3 feet.

The remaining results will show only properties that meet your criteria.

Handling Missing Data

Some properties may not have lot dimensions available through BC Assessment.

These records will typically display as blank.

You can remove these entries using the filter options if desired.

If lot dimensions are not available through Load Data, check the Lot Dimensions section within the municipal GIS data sources available in a Property Report.

Analyze Your Results

Once filtered, you will have a targeted list of properties that meet your lot width, depth, or size requirements.

Common uses include:

  • Subdivision research

  • Land assembly prospecting

  • Redevelopment analysis

  • Development site identification

  • Client searches

Quick Recap

  1. Select properties in your target area.

  2. Load lot width, depth, and/or lot size data.

  3. Export the data to Excel.

  4. Enable filtering.

  5. Sort and filter by your desired dimensions.

  6. Review the resulting properties.
